The Lord graciously saved Tyrell at the age of seven and, after various trials and blessings, he began in 2004 to work as a youth pastor. At the end of 2007, he was called as a student pastor to Constantia Park Baptist Church, where he worked with a wonderful eldership under Pastor Martin Holdt.
At the end of 2008 he was called as an associate pastor at the same church and continued to serve there. In the beginning of 2011, the Lord laid it on his heart, along with a friend, to plant a church in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg. Thus began services at Heritage Baptist Church on 2 January 2011.
After serving for ten years as a founding pastors of Heritage Baptist Church, Tyrell accepted a call to pastor Pineland Baptist Church in Burlington, Ontario. He has an Honours degree from the Baptist Theological College of Southern Africa, where he also lectured on apologetics and evangelism before accepting the call to Canada. He has also done course work for a Master’s in Nouthetic (Biblical) Counselling. He has a passion for apologetic and polemical issues. His personal confession of faith is mostly in keeping with the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. In 2014, he began work on a Masters in Systematic Theology.
He lives with his beautiful wife, Ainsley, and their three children. Together, they strive to see the gospel make progress in South Africa.
Tyrell is also author of Death or Glory, a thirty-day devotional designed to anchor truth from the word of God in your mind by harnessing memorable and motivating mottos from military units around the world. There are ninety battles in the Bible, and it is with that same spirit that the Christian life ought to be undertaken. You can order Death or Glory for Kindle at Amazon.com.
